Prices and conditions
Your total electricity cost consists of three components: the electricity you use, which you pay to your electricity supplier, the transmission of electricity to your home or business, which is paid to the electricity grid operator, and taxes and charges to the state.
Electricity grid prices – 1 January 2023
On 1 September 2022, the above price model for the Normaltaxa 63A tariff was introduced to make it easier for you as a customer to influence your costs. The previous model had a price for power output, regardless of peak load or off-peak load. The new model introduces a peak load charge, while the cost of the output charge is reduced. This is how it works for you as a customer:
- The peak load period is when the electricity grid has the highest loading due to the colder climate, from 1 November to 31 March. On Monday-Friday 07:00–19:00, the peak load charge of SEK 42/kW.
- During this peak load period, you will see two different output values on your invoice, one for peak load as described above and one for the output charge.
Example: If you have 5 kW as the highest peak during peak load time and 7 kW as the highest peak during off-peak load time, there will be two items on the invoice as follows:
5 kW x SEK 42 = SEK 210
7 kW x SEK 31.50 = SEK 220.5
Example: If you have 7 kW as the highest peak during peak load time and 5 kW as the highest peak during off-peak load time, there will be two items on the invoice as follows:
7 kW x SEK 42 = SEK 294
7 kW x SEK 31.50 = SEK 220.5
This is because you have had your highest daily peak during peak load hours, and it is then also counted as an output charge, since the output charge is still measured for every hour of the day.
- You can easily keep track of when you had your output peaks at Mina sidor [My Pages], by going into Förbrukning [Consumption] and selecting the period you want to review. By showing public holidays and weekends, you can easily see in the chart what is peak load time, and by hovering your mouse pointer over the bars, you can see at what time you had the highest peaks.
- Both the peak load charge and the output charge are based on the average output of the hour with the highest energy consumption.
- With a little planning on how and when you use electricity, you can trim the peaks and thereby reduce the electricity grid cost. Use a longer programme on the dishwasher that requires less power, review the settings on your heat pump to maintain a more even heating curve, and try to use one power-hungry appliance at a time instead of running the tumble dryer and oven at the same time.
